Short Answer — We Didn’t
We used Rainmaker from CopyBlogger to Create This Website
I have been the Webmaster for BoomersRock Media, LLC, since it was founded, and I’ve tried a lot of techniques for building our website. I’m a big fan of WordPress, and the various plugins and add-on themes available for WordPress make it very easy to pull together a nice site.
But it’s still a lot of work, especially for a content-driven, membership site with payments and access restrictions. And it’s a lot to maintain.
I didn’t do a great job of it, before, because I also had a family and a job while working on the Boomers Rock website. So when we decided to go with another distributor for the podcast, and when the radio show was picked up by a terrestrial broadcaster, we also decided to give the website a fresh look. But I didn’t want to redo all the work I’d previously done. In fact, I just didn’t have time to redo the work.
I wanted to focus on the content, not the platform. Enter Rainmaker. (Introducing: The Rainmaker Platform by Copyblogger Media).
You do have to pay for using their platform, but I believe it’s worth every penny. If you want to publish content and get it to an audience, consider Rainmaker.
If you want to have A/B Testing, analytics, access control, and membership management built-in, but don’t want to assemble all those WordPress plugins and pay for them separately, consider Rainmaker.
If you want to use WordPress and have your choice of some of the best themes ever built for WordPress, consider Rainmaker.
I have used Copyblogger’s themes, enrolled for their training, and been a member of their site for years. They are the best at what they do.
