This blog gets me really excited to think about and finally write, I have been thinking about it for a while. It was just recently I ran into an old friend, who in his day was a tremendous athlete, and got me thinking about writing this.
Heck alot of my friends were tremendous athletes, way back in the day. And some of my best friends are still tremendous athletes now, its just they are like 25 years younger than me, but hey thats another story.
I remember like yesterday what it was like to have that feel of the “juice”, that competitiveness and comradeship you share and enjoy, it was the reason for competing in the first place. We grew up in the 70’s playing outside and then high school sports, thats where and when the juice started.
You really never lose that juice, it is still there, just buried in life and if you are still competing, still having that fun, hey fantastic, good for you.
The problem for us “Boomers” (and anyone post 40) is that it can take a toll on your body. That the desire for the “Juice” sometimes outweighs what our bodies can absorb, our minds think we are 20, our bodies say we are 50, and BAM, we get dinged or even worse seriously injured.
Playing hoop, softball, kickball, pickup street football, anything and more with a bunch of men or women for that matter who are say a little bit more pliable, (a nice way of saying way younger), is a recipe for the emergency room and time off work, and worse yet time off exercising or training, my god the HORROR!
So lets do our best to avoid, keep busy, remember you are not 25 anymore, hell 25 year olds get tore up too.
Don’t get trainer T wrong, if you still compete and have not endured the above mentioned nightmare, hey fantastic and more power to you. My point with this blog is this, you can still get the juice in a more controlled environment, yes you can.
Prepping for the body building show this past winter and spring (remember, the rookie at almost 51), proved to me that it is possible and if you set your goal, I found the juice again.
Get a plan, get a partner, and hang with the right fellas (or women, sorry ladies I am not forgetting you train too), the juice can be had. Just find another thing to do and get busy.
I don’t like taking these blog too long, and I will come back to this topic, it is near and dear to me, just keep in mind that the juice comes in many flavors, that if you tasted it once, and you want too again, try one of my workouts.
The DVD and Ebook (the first) are almost done, and it will get you started.
Thanks for reading, I really do appreciate your time,
Former Chubster, Trainer T 🙂
We want to stay fit, just find the right JUICE!
