The old saying, “you are what you eat” is essentially perfect in that the way you feel, look, perform, and live is fully dependent on the types of fuel you’re putting in your body! I am a firm believer that nutrition touches 90-95% of your life.
Americans are so under-educated and naive about our foods and as I walk around the grocery store every week, I am literally saddened to see the kinds of food that we as Americans are feeding our children. We are essentially poisoning our families and our children are on pace to be the only generation that will not out-live their parents! If our food system does not change drastically and quickly, we are setting up future generations for a lifetime of sickness, disease, lack of mobility, mental anguish, and overall unhappiness because we continue to allow food manufacturers to sell us “food” filled with chemicals, by-products, and general trash!
The thought that food should be fresh, nutritious, full of flavor, and great tasting has been replaced by convenience, cost, and satisfaction in terms of how it tastes and satiates our cravings! This type of backward thinking has helped the food manufacturers prey on our families by cutting costs and introducing horrible ingredients like High Fructose Corn Syrup, hydrogenated oils, and hundreds of other by-products and fillers that our bodies just aren’t genetically built to process! The era of meals prepared fresh daily and full of healthy ingredients for our family has been replaced by a “grab it and go” mentality that permits us to meet all of our deadlines but POISON ourselves in the meantime. The great news is that there is hope, together through education and initiative we can alter our food environment in our homes and in our country to begin positive changes to our health, wellness, and ultimately our mindset as our bodies begin to heal and perform optimally!
The article I’m attaching below is long, detailed, and does an excellent job discussing our current situation when it comes to our food in this country. Read it once and digest what the author is telling you and then read it again to really determine the point he is trying to make. As a matter of fact, read it for a third time until his words drive home the point that we CAN make the changes we need to make as a country to help our children and grandchildren live long, healthy, and fulfilling lives!——-> R-Squared
