This past Friday I had the immense pleasure, (along with Sandy and Regie) to attend an event held by Chris Johnson, founder of On Target Living. There were over 50 people in attendance, all ready to learn how to improve their lives, through proper nutrition, exercise, and getting your rest and relaxation time in.
Let me tell you it was simply fabulous.
Please let me reiterate my position and refresh your memory on my personal trials and tribulations which led to my meeting Chris, over a year and a half ago.
Remember that I was the non-traditional college student, back to school at 40 in 2001 and finally finishing in 2009, two degrees later.
That setting goals and achieving them is all part of life, and that sometimes you need to find those mentors that can guide and give you their knowledge, sharing and helping you see the path to the completion. I had many mentors in college, many great educators who taught me to seek out those who can help you succeed.
Those lessons led me to Chris.
Chris Johnson is a local phenom in the health and wellness industry here in Mid-Michigan, having personally trained over 17,000 sessions this man knows how to get results in the fitness and weight management business.
He now travels and speaks to many corporate groups nationally, his advice is very provocative and to the point and is a very busy guy, in essence constantly on the run.
When I sought Chris out over a year ago I had no idea if he would even return my email, let alone a phone call. Let me tell you he did and then some.
Chris met with me, basically a total stranger, for two hours and we discussed my thoughts on entering the personal training business,(at that point I had just finished grad school at 49 years old) and I wanted his advice on becoming a certified trainer.
Chris could not have been more accommodating and gracious; it was truly a teacher wanting to help.
Flash forward now over 16 months later and I am still learning from Chris, his books, On Target Living- Nutrition, and On Target Living- Cooking are simply outstanding, and I hope everyone has a chance to buy them and read up on his philosophies, they have been read in my house many, many times.
His meal patterning thoughts and lessons will help anyone who truly wants to make that change, it helped me get my cholesterol down to the lowest ever in my just past physical, and making my doctor wonder what the heck I was doing.
It is all Chris’s advice, the healthy fats, the Carlsons Fish oil, the proper hydration, and training and of course rest and relaxation have helped me to turn my life around, and now I am blessed to be able to help others like he has so many before me.
Change is possible, improvement is doable, find yourself a mentor and learn new ways of living, it probably saved my life.
