Being selected in April of 2011 for the cover of ‘Healthy and Fit’ and the “Fit Over Fifty” edition was a great honor, because I was a baby boomer who was not always so healthy or fit. I was surprised to see how much of a difference the healthy and fit lifestyle made.
Becoming accountable has changed my life.
I continue to learn about the healthy and fit lifestyle as host of the “Boomers Rock” talk show, and I will now bring quality of life tips, ideas and thoughts to “Healthy and Fit” magazine with a monthly column. I talk to experts each week with a focus on baby boomers, but improving our quality of life can happen at any age.
Baby boomers are transforming aging, essentially reinventing what growing older means. We are doing it with more vigor, motivation and purpose. We don’t desire the old retirement. We have a new sense of what we want, we will work well into our, what I refer to as,the ‘refirement-zone’ years.
Boomers will reinvent themselves again and again!
We will return to school, start new careers, volunteer in our communities, and seek purposeful activities. How you and I ‘transition’ into our next ‘careers’will depend on life choices and activities we find drive our passions. Being healthy and fit has, and is a proven path to successful aging, it is not ‘getting old’ it is ‘growing older’ with passion that makes the difference.
Boomers set the trends in the past, changed the world and made a difference. It’s time to grab a new attitude, become dedicated, love ourselves and continue to lead.
The world needs us to step up and ignite our life!
How will you spend your discretionary time becoming fit and healthy?
