This time of year we often hear our friends, family, and co-workers discussing the newest diet fad or food restriction that they are currently using to help them succeed in accomplishing those pesky New Year’s Resolutions. One of the most common diets that people utilize is the dreaded “Low Carb/No Carb” diet that limits your daily carbohydrate intake.
Obviously when limiting carbs, bread consumption is always frowned upon and we are well aware of the health issues with consuming too much bread. As a self professed bread lover, I’ve had many different kinds and have since settled on my favorite brand that my family currently buys and enjoys. You may be wondering how much bread I eat on average and I must be honest that my bread consumption is very low. I may have a piece here and there once a week but during contest prep my consumption falls to zero if any.
It’s not that bread is “bad” for you as that statement can be debated for years to come. It is simply the fact that I choose to utilize my carb percentages from other sources like steel cut and rolled oats, sweet potato’s, greek yogurt, vegetables, some fruits, etc. I understand the love affair that people have with their bread, so I looked far and wide to find a brand that had the make-up and ingredient breakdown that I approved of while keeping the taste and satisfaction level high. My family loves Ezekial bread which is a live grain bread, sold frozen and kept in the refrigerator. I sympathize with everyone looking to upgrade their bread and would encourage you to try many different kinds and utilize the one that has the highest nutritional values and meets your taste requirements.
I wanted to provide this article link to a blog that I follow as I feel it does a good job describing Ezekial bread and also provides some options if you’re brave enough to make it yourself! The important thing with all this is that your searching for healthier alertanatives to the deathly “Butternut” version found in your local grocery aisle. Kudos to you on your dedicated search, and keep us informed on which brands and/or version you like the best!
