The maturing of America has many dimensions and complexities. Growing older, if done correctly can continue life’s magical journey. Dwelling on what to expect when we are on the verge of a completely new paradigm is both exciting and daunting. Will we be marginalized, age discriminated adults or trendsetting high-achievers raising the bar to new heights of accomplishments?
It is the compelling ‘how’ we attack our future that will make all the difference.
‘How’, now that is a large three letter word.
According to Dr. Laura Carstenson, Founding director of the Stanford Center on Longevity, “in terms of emotions, the best years come late in life”. In the ReFirement Zone, that is our Boomers Rock family, we look forward to our maturation into SuperiorSenior status as the result of multiple bricks of accomplishments and achievements that support the foundation of our lives.
The bleachers of life are for those who decide that retirement is the goal. If that is what you decide, then we wish the best of luck, because you will need it!
I believe in expanding our social circles, attracting and maximizing our friends and like-minded people. It is what hosting our radio talk show is all about, knowledge and tips, ideas and beliefs. Personal accountability begins with associating with positive souls who encourage our families health and wellness.
Recently my very good friend Dr. Debbie Heiser called me to introduce me to a new dynamo; and when Dr. Debbie calls, just like the old EF Hutton commercial said, you should listen!
Dr. Debbie wanted me to meet another of her outstanding friends. A person who is doing what we all need to do as far as recreating yourself, never staying put and growing stale in life. Her name is Debra Zarne, attorney, writer, filmmaker and an example we all need to look up to. Debra spends her multifaceted life between her home in New York and Milwaukee where she is a caregiver for her mother.
Transition is one of my favorite words, and it is one of my favorite pastimes. Sharing examples of successful MiddleLiving adults, who live the life and walk the walk is super exciting. Here is a sample of the fantastic film creativity that Debra Zarne has directed and produced titled “Adult Day Center/ReCharge”, this film short is dynamite!
As Debra’s film clearly illustrates Staying Engaged, Staying Alive is a goal we all need to embrace. The bleachers that are welcoming some retiree’s are not going to be seeing us, ever!
